Remember... We Chose This Wild Ride We Bought the Ticket and Waited in Line!
We believe we chose to experience life and our life lessons. Part of this experience is pain, trauma, grief and dysfunction. These experiences we consider to be contrast are purposeful and serve in deepening our wisdom as well as… our humility, patience, tenacity, wherewithal, faith, courage, integrity, resiliency, compassion and empathy.
We can choose to go into our lessons holding the knowing that we will gain depth of wisdom and bear great fruits from our labor. From this knowing and this place we can transform by integrating all we have walked through.
Feeling victimized by our life or feeling like we are being subjected to some outside force... this is like going to Disneyland, paying a lot of money, waiting in line to get on a big roller coaster and then feeling violated and offended that we got jostled around and turned upside down at high speed by the bad people at Disneyland.
We have all paid for the ticket to be here and yet we act like this should not be happening. We should not be turned upside-down, hair flying, screaming and getting thrown around. But we chose this wild ride!!!
Post Script... We are all accountable for our lives and our part in life. Part of healthy living is discerning what decisions or course of action is needed based on the context before us. If action or choice is needed to make a stand or go a different direction then by all means we are to do just that. If we are tired of the roller coaster then go buy a ticket to the merry-go-round, sit on the bench under the pretty trees or go buy a pretzel.
Remember this analogy the next time your victim feelings want to take over, undermine and ruin your roller coaster ride which you came to experience, for which you bought the ticket and waited in line!
We encourage you to hold the knowing that there is power in remembering we chose this ride. See that it is time to own your life and to show up fully enjoying whatever is before you that you find enjoyable, and choose to see the trials in your life as the purposeful lessons that are an integral and necessary part of the ride.
