I heard about Karen by word of mouth, I knew someone who had worked with her and they recommended her style of coaching. This is one of the things I love about Salem, Oregon it is a small "big" town and word of mouth is still part of the culture.
I started working with Karen during my Masters program in 2014. I was struggling in my personal life and it was affecting my college performance. I was used to being able to produce a high quality of work and receive top grades.
I couldn't focus or concentrate. My anxiety was really getting to me and I was going to withdraw from my program. The other issue, the school I was attending was expensive and I would owe a lot of additional money and would not have my Masters.
The other part of my work with Karen was regarding boundaries. We worked on boundaries for myself and focused on boundaries in my personal relationships. What I learned was I really didn't have very many boundaries.
We went over what boundaries I felt were needed and healthy for me and my life. At first it felt awkward to actually start putting up and holding my boundaries in a broader manner. And sometimes it felt sort of harsh, but I could feel I was not as drained as I had been before. I had more energy to do my assignments and to get back on track. I was also able to integrate what I was learning.
We went into personal healing during the coaching sessions. I had wounding from my family of origin, as most of us do. I am feeling more hopeful and positive after being presented with the perspective to love myself and my lessons fully. Before going into these areas where I had personal issues felt too heavy and better left in the past. I now understand we can deal with our baggage and it doesn't have to be a negative experience. I am very grateful for all I learned working with Karen.
